Slippery Elm powder has been shown to soothe the entire digestive tract, support lungs and urinary system. It can also be used as a poultice for boils and other skin disorders where it soothes and draws. It is valuable nutrient when recovering from illness or convalescence.
The University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) indicates that slippery elm contains antioxidants that appear to ease the inflammation characteristic of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, serious intestinal disorders that produce a number of unpleasant symptoms like bloody stools, diarrhea, pain and cramping.
Directions: Place a heaped 5ml teaspoon in a cup, add a little liquid honey and stir to form a paste. Slowly add boiling water mixing as you go to make a soothing drink when cooler.
Add 5ml heaped teaspoon to porridge for a uniquely nutritious blend.
